This primary source talks about all of the damage the fire caused to the city. Chicago was able to grow and become even bigger than it was before the fire. They advanced in firefighting technology and knowledge. This article talks about the problems the fire brought to the insurance companies, but when Chicago had finished rebuilding the companies repaired and even became more advanced. This article shows all of the issues with the way the city was built before the fire. It was pretty much a big fire trap. After the fire, Chicago had learned and improved their knowledge of fires and created better ways to stop them. This showed me the destruction that the fire caused. Many people lost homes and family members. Insurance went up for all companies. The lessons that were learned from the fire. Mostly used brick and stone but fireproof materials were used and better. | This primary source deals with how the fire effected families in Chicago, but in the end you could say the fire had a positive impact, making Chicago a better and more advanced place. This primary sources talks about all of the financhial problems the city caused. The fire had costed the city a lot of money in damage but it also brought new investors and in the end Chicago had a better economy. People around the world do what they need to do to help others. People across the nation work harder to get money for the people of Chicago. This helps rebuild the city and use better materials to use on buildings. This showed the money that the fire brought to Chicago. It helped investors come and make a lot of money. Moody was a investor that went into sales and made lots of money out of Chicago The fire was the first major event to have many people raise money for relief. Relief was needed because the damage amount was so much money. This shows that the firemen were praised for their hard work. The firemen had to work days on end to stop it and put it out. Many people suffered through this fire. |
